For a few weeks now, I’ve been working on recovering my creative and artistic self with a self-help book, The Artist’s Way. Perhaps you know it?
If you’re interested in getting your hands on a hard copy, here’s a list of used book stores in Seattle where you will be very likely to find a gently used copy of the book: http://recollectionbooks.com/seattle.html
This book encourages me to dream, to believe and to live creatively, and I thought it would be fun for you and I to take some of the activities from the book and share them here.
In one of the activities, I was asked to jot down 5 imaginary lives. I hope you will join me and share your lives with me no matter how silly, whimsical, wild or practical they are!
I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life’s realities. -Dr. Seuss
1. If I could do anything and live anywhere I wanted, I would LOVE to live in Finland (not to mention, raise my children there) and design some patterns for Marimekko!
Marimekko’s designs are always neat, elegant, vibrant and fun! (Just like me! :))
If Finnish culture and Finnish everyday life is anything like what I have seen through the designs at Marimekko, then I would move my life there in a heartbeat!
“colour doesn’t yell- it glows”
Unikko was designed by one of the designers at Marimekko in the 1960’s and has become the iconic trademark design of the Finnish brand.
Why has this particular pattern had such staying power for Marimekko?
